Sudden State of Mind by Richard A. McCullough

Richard A. McCullough’s short story, Sudden State of Mind, is now available at Amazon as an e-story download at an affordable price. Fans of short fiction will enjoy this stark and riveting tale that involves the events in a Psychiatry Ward. Told initially from the viewpoint of Dr. Stanton, we are introduced to him as a tired and rather jaded psychiatrist who treats his patients with disdain. Stanton is not a likeable man at all. Juxtaposed against his unpleasant personality are the thoughts of Agatha or Aggie, and Aggie is the polar opposite of Stanton in every way. Her mind his filled with adventure, wild scenes and images, all of which endear us to her plight. She’s strapped to a bed in Dr. Stanton’s very unpleasant world. To say more would reveal too much, but suffice it to say the denouement is appropriate and well-conceived. Sudden State of Mind falls into the category of a short, short story and can be read in just a few minutes. I enjoyed the story. It is well written with believable characters. Adding this to your nook or kindle is as easy as point and click. Recommended for fans of short contemporary fiction.
