Scary Books – The Shimmer by David Morrell

David Morrell is another of my favorite authors. The Shimmer is of recent vintage and I couldn’t help including it in this month’s Halloween celebration because it’s so suspenseful. It involves mysterious lights in the desert, a research facility, and a connection to Giant, a James Dean film. Police Officer Dan Page’s wife disappears and his search for her leads him to Rostov, Texas where there are reports of mysterious lights. It gets a lot creepier from that point on. This is one of those fat 400 page paperbacks that keeps you flipping the pages because you’re eager to find out what happens next. I really dug into this book and enjoyed every spine-tingling moment. David Morrell, of course, is the man that created Rambo. His many other books are all worth your time. Other recent books that I enjoyed are Creepers (2005) and The Spy Who Came to Dinner (2008). Everything that David Morrell has written is pure genius and loads of fun. The Shimmer will keep you on the edge of your seat!

I apologize for the necessity to moderate comments, but somebody opened the zoo cages and the beasts are running amok!
